what would you do
Yeah BgBlu, that looks sweet on a truck like yours! It's really is a matter of personal choice, thats for sure. I think straight pipes look great on lifted big ol' 4x4, and the side exhaust looks great on a more street performance style. Like I say, it's all about personal choice.
You know what I have seen that looks really nice, when people direct the pipes out at an angle from both corners of the bumper, each with a 4" SS tip.. That looks sweet! I kind of wish I had gone that route, but I really like the straight pipes too.
On a 5.9 with true duals, no cats, 2 40 series flowmasters, turn downs after the mufflers. Sounded a whole lot better than pipes out the back, was deeper, and had a nice rumble at idle.
95 1500 4x4 5.9 3" PA Body Lift 5.5" Super Lift Suspension 38" TSL Radials (should have went with 39.5 bias)
First exhaust was single in dual out Flows, with tips, not bad, but kind of 'whispy'
Second exhaust was same as above with no cat. Better.
Third exhaust was two 'terminators' with true duals - uh I must have been smoking crack when I bought these -
Fourth and final - two 40 series with turndowns of about 14 total inches each after the mufflers....
Nicr mellow sounds at idle, with some 'whumpa whumpa' and one hell of a roar at WOT.....

I was going to cut my 4" pipe just before the CAT and pipe it out the passanger side, but I would like to be able to roll down the passanger window without doing the Ted Danson Coal face thing.
Personally, I feel that straight out the back is the way to go, visually. But, if you have a shell, there is negative pressure at highway speed behind the gate and it may suck exhaust gas up into your shell. Or if you pull a horse trailer then the horses may end up a little high on exhaust fumes.
I got my new Flowmaster 50 installed today! Believe it or not the guy at the locas Midas did one hell of a nice job. Not mandrel bent, I admit, but the welds are solid and clean, and the brakets are placed exactly where they shold be.
I took it out the back corners, I think it looks good because from the back you can see tons of chrome on the tips.
These pictures suck because I had to take them with my phone, not a real camera.
