Tires rubbin? lol
Ok fellers, heres the deal, i have a 2003 1500 4X4 Offroad, and i have 37's with the 17's. It looks like im rubbin tire on my upper A-arm a bit, and if im not rubbin, i might have half a milimeter, so im orderin some spacers to spread it out a little, i do go off road a good deal, and i dont wanna snap some lugs or anything, and im kinda tight on cash right now, do you think it'll be cool?
the tires are Cooper Discoverer STT. I'm not sure what lift it is, it was on the truck when i got it. im pretty sure its 3" suspension and 2" body. and the wheels are Factory 17's, i believe from a second gen, heres a pic
You will be ok with spacers as long as you get some good ones. I got a set of 4 off of ebay that are of pretty good quality. My suggestion is to overtorque the specs the first time, back the lugs off and then retorque to specs. Mine were rated at 95 lbs. I torqued to 120 and then back to 95. It seemed to "seat" them better for whatever reason. Spacers will over exaggerate any bump or hole in the road and you will probably feel it coming through the steering wheel. I tried mine out with the stock 30's on my Jeep and removed them promptly. You might have better luck with those 37's. I'm assuming you have some sort of double steering stabilizer set-up on that truck? If not, you had better get one. It will make life a lot easier. Don't waste your money on the return-to-zero type like the Trailmaster 4-way stabilizer. That big spring looks impressive buta good Rancho set-up is works just fine.
They have no stabilizer available for his truck.
Also the wheels are stock 03 third gen off road package wheels(i have four of them sitting on the side of the house). The only reason i run different wheels is because of the rubbing he is experiencing. Spacers are a nice band aid when cash is tight but the proper wheels are the fix.
