Default Driving through water - check gauges?

When I drove through some standing water today, about six inches from the rain, my Check Gauges light light came on. We'll I did check the gauges and found that my Amp Meter was at 0. About 30 seconds later it went back to charging, so I figured some electrical contact got wet.

I know it's not a snorkle equiped Hummer, but DAMN, give me a break! I was crawling slowly through SIX INCHES of water! It's not like I'm trying to cross a river. Has this ever happend to anyone?

I love this truck, but I'm starting tosecond guessmy choice of switching to Dodge. It's already been at the dealer once for three days for broken plastic piece in the tranny. I haven't even made my second payment yet! I don't mean to offend any loyalist, but damn.

Mine does just fine.
No clue why you are having issues.

i've had a similar (to some extent) problem but only worse. i went through about 12" of water and now i have a used motor in my truck. insurrance wouldn't pay the full price for a new one. but don't get my wrong, i love my truck and i'm glad i bought it!

Your alternator got wet. No big deal. Alternators don't charge well when they're being inundated with water. If your splash shields are out of place, missing, non-existant, then sometimes water will get up there and get your alternator wet.

Boy you're not kidding! That's about how my parking lot looked after the rain stopped.

I parked mine overnight at a friends house just shy of the bottom door jam, exhaust looking somewhat like an inboard blowing bubbles and all, no problems. Went through a bit of a puddle the other day and got a check engine light with a tranny code. Go figure...
