You'll need to pull the fan/clutch assembly, serpentine belt, etc, then its a bolt on affair to the timing cover. Its a fairly straight forward disassembly/assembly. Make sure you clean the timing cover without gouging it in any way. I would be inclines to use RTV as a sealant, but this takes time to set up, overnight is best. You can also use formagasket non-hardening. It sets up fast and seals very well. Makes sure you break the large fan nut loose first if you can BEFORE you remove the serpentine.
Download the FSM from the "Merry Christmas" sticky above, then look under "cooling" or "pump-water" in the index. It will take you through the entire process.

Good Luck,
I've been in your situation before too---It Sucks

Now is a good time to replace the timing chain also, as long as you're in thereanyway.

Before you rip it all apart, and you are in a rush... make sure the hose isn't cracked where it's attached to the water pump.

If so, try to cut of the cracked piece and reattached if it's long enough. Can't remember how much "slack" there is to do this though, probably sol.

Good luck.

ok guys, i made it home safely....thank you for your help. yes, it was the water pump, the shaft bearings went out. the hardest part of the whole thing was finding the spanner wrench to hold the pulley still while i got the fan nut off. who designed this thing anyway? but i finally found a universal pulley holder at napa, like a serpentine belt tool but in the shape of a Y withthe pivot about 3/4 of the way up and carved out ends like a hook. I put some 1/4 inch screws throughtwo oppositeholes with nuts and washers to hold them while i put the tool on the pulley. so all in all, the operation took about an hour once i found all of my tools and parts. counting that time its probably more like 4hours.
