30+ MPG GUARANTEED !!!
Thought that would get everyones attention. Now, seriously, I can understand spending SOME money for preformance upgrades. But if it was PREFORMANCE you wanted, why didnt you just get the stinkin V-8 !! I have to caution everyone on buying all those doo-dads to improve gas milage. If you figure up how much gain in m.p.g. you will get, divided by how many miles you will have to drive to recover the cost of buying the parts, you will see that the mpg gain ( In 93% of all cases) will take you about50-60 thousand miles to see any real benifit (profit)! Most of you will have traded your truck off by then anyway!
Example: Lets say you are currently getting 16.5 MPG. Gas is and will stay at (yea right) $2.25/gal Over the course of 50,000 miles you would have burned 3030.3 gallons of gas for a total of $6818.18
So you put on all the doo-dads: Cold air intake: $300.00 Custom Exhaust: $250.00 Irridium spark plugs: $30.00You do all this, spend a total of $580.00. You now get 18 MPG. 18 mpg over the next 50,000 miles you will burn2777.7 gallons of gas for a total of $6250.00. Savings in fuel: $568.18
Cost of upgrades:$580.00 GREAT! YOU justlost $12.00 Trying to save on gas! AND, if you do all of this and trade your vehicle off when you have put, like, 25000 miles on it since the upgrades, then you areREALLY loosing money! Hey guys (and gals), I'm not sayingto not buy these things. They DO add someever-so-slight power. And the new exhaust, if done right, will sound good. if you are wanting to improve fuel milage, all I am saying is read this and THINK before you waste allot of money like I have done twice in the past. I just bought a 2007 Ram 1500 ST, 2wd, SWB, V-6 with auto trans, 3.92 rear axle with limit slip. It is what it is. Nothing more. It's just a good 'ol Dodge truck. And thats Why I bought it. If I was after a hot rod, I would have got a HEMI. I couldafford it. If I wanted Great gas milage, I would have bought a 4 cyl nissan fronteer. (the one here at the shop gets 27 mpg! ) I wanted a BIG DODGE TRUCK! So lets all just smile, and stomp the poop out of those Ford's & Chevy's together!(By the way, there has not yet been a Ford orChevy stock V-6 that has come even close to out running this V-6Dodge!)
