I'll have to wait to see one in person because the pics don't do much forme. That's a pretty impressive motor though. [sm=insomnia.gif]

The interior of my brother in laws '05 Tundra is average.

I think the exterior looks decent, and I really like the 5.7 engine and 6-speed transmission combo with a hefty standard rear gear (4.10 standard. 4.30 optional). These will be fast trucks that can apparently haul a lot. Reliability of this new engine and trans, of course, is still an unknown, but on paper it sure looks nice.

I don't like the interior all that much. Never been a fan of the partitioned cabin, where the center console eats up a spot for someone (small) to sit. Ford does the same thing. I never use it for that function, but I like the open space (aside from the floor shifter for 4x4).

If I was buying a new truck this summer, I would seriously consider the new GM/Chevy twins and the Toyota Tundra, along with the Ram. As it stands, I'm extremely happy with my '05 Dodge (and the awesome deal I got on it NEW). Both Ford and DCX will be coming out with all new trucks in '09, so I look forward to seeing if and how they trump the competition.

i will admit it looks a little better then the old ones, but still not as nice as the dodge, it all depends on wether your going to use the truck as a truck or just as your daily driver, if your going to use it for more "truck" stuff i would go with the dodge just because well,,, this is a dodge fourm and we all like dodges more then toyotas, if you want a more accurate explination i would go on a ford or chevy fourm and see what they think about the dodge and the toyota, besides them saying that they both suck
Thank you for the response. And yeah you're probably right, I'm going to run in to bias ignorant responses on both the Dodge and Toyota forums. So thank you for the insite.

I suppose that is an important aspect to consider. With nearly all new parts on this truck it will most likely have some small bugs as most new vehicles do. So that is something I guess I may wait to find out before I go and spend a whole a$$ load of money. The 4.30 gears, power and tranny with that tow assist really did catch my eye though. They really have put a lot of thought into this truck for serious work. And for that I can appreciate it more. Yeah...it still doesn't look that good. Not terrible I don't think, but not so great either.

On another note I'm also waiting to see this new diesel engine for Ford since you mentioned Ford above. My father's isn't bad, but the 6.0's been known for it's possible problems; so I'm just waiting for that too.

Why can't you just drive a truck around for a week or two and then take it back if you don't like it! Kind of like a gift recipt from the holidays [sm=confused06.gif]

If you really want to drive one around for a week, just go rent one. I'm sure one of the rental places will be more than happy to take your money.

I do have to say this...if it's typical Toyota quality it'll damn near run forever.

Also, Toyota's customer service is second to none. I can't say I've been overly pleased with any of the Big 3's approach to customer service.

I think the biggest thing I dislike about Toyota's is the seating position on them. They always feel like your feet are even with your butt, liek a rock buggy.

The other thing I don't like is the axles. 1 - I don't like IFS (go figure) and 2 - Toyota axles and gear sets are small.

Other than that, I think it'll be a good truck.

I've said this many times, to many people....It's YOUR money, it's YOUR truck, YOU have to live with it. Buy what YOU want. Until someone else is makingYOUR car payment for you, that's all you really need to be concerned with.

looking at the pictures again i noticed that it seemed as if they tried to make the truck look taller by putting the headlights up higher then on the dodge, which results in the feeling that there is something missing there, also whats up with the mirrors?, to they really expect all the owners of the trucks to be pulling a trailler behind them, almost like they were going for a heavy duty look with them, but then they put these small lights on the front, it also seems as if they took the dodge and did a taillight/headlight swap with it, i mean that the new dodges have that sweeping headlight look and a normal taillight, but the toyota has (small) normal headlights and sweeping tallights that are sweeping the wrong way, i honestly think i could have made a better looking truck

Not crazy about the exterior lines but the interior seems laid out well and roomy. You can't argue with Toyotas quality although this is a new design with lot's of electronics. Frankly I wish truck makers would put in less electronics - less to go wrong and it always goes out at the worst possible time like, let's say with a 10,000 gooseneck.
I would have a hard time getting over the stereotype that only domestic trucks can pull large loads while imports are good for gas mileage and scooting around but this truck is producing power that rates to low end diesels.
I'd get one in a year or two after the bugs get work out. Besides, with the new fuel standards that will be implemented eventually, this truck will be redesigned several time over. I think it will last like the T-100.

Those new Tundra's look great as long as they stay in the right had lane out of the way of the real trucks.
