RB4 Navigation Radio
I own a 2005 1500 QC. I would like to replace the factory RBK AM/FM CD/Radio with the RB4 Navigation Radio. Is an easy job? Is this a simple plug and play job? I have read the threads regarding the removal of the dash bezel and think I can switch out the two units but was wondering if I will need to reconfigure the Canbus? Will I need a speed monitor? If I purchase the RB4 unit with the antenna can I just switch out the two? Help and thank you! Love the Ram!

I switched from the factory am/fm/cd player to the RB4 in my 2005 1500 SLT QC. It is very quick. Remove the screw at the "hook" by the passengers knee and the rest of the dash arounnd the radio pops out with a little gentle pulling. The satellite antenna should come with the radio along with the navigation CD's. It plugs into the factory harness and took me about 10 minutes top.
I just have mine under the dash someplace near the back of the radio. I get good signal to the satellites for GPS. It does have the standard antenna connection also in the back of the RB4 for the radio reception. You will like the RB4. The navigation part is cool, but I like the RDS (radio data system) feature best myself. That is the signal from many radio stations that displays on the screen on the RB4 of the artist and song playing on the radio station.

If you can swing the extra $100-$200 you will much happier with an RB1 versus the RB4. The RB1 shows the actual map where the RB4 only shows the turn by turn arrow. The only upside that the RB4 has over the RB1 is that you can remove the disc when using the nav and replace with a music CD. The way around that is to add a 6 or 10 disc player or an IPod adapter. Both let you listen to the radio while in the nav mode.
Does the RB1Nav allow you to search for the nearest restraunts, golf courses, boat ramps, gas stations, ect.. If I add the Ipod adapter will it display artist name, song, ect on the radio? can I control the ipod thru the radio?
