Default My Review: 2007 Dodge RAM

For the past 2 weeks, I have been driving around in a new 2007 Dodge RAM 1500 Quad Cab 4x4 HEMI, my personal ride is in the shop getting some upgrades. So far I have put about1500 miles on the truck and I have some observations I feel I can share with the rest of the community. I'm not a professional, so don't expecet this review to be laid out in any sort of orderly fashion.

I suppose I should start with the exterior? The truck is red with chrome front and rear bumpers. I never did like the re-design of the front ends in 2006, however the new/bigger style headlights and grilleHAVE grown on me. The only complaint would have to be the tail-lights. What theheck was Dodge thinking? Those rocket style tail-lights are ugly as hell. Perhaps they got a special deal on them or something, I love the 2003-2005 style tail-lights. Anyways, that's just personal opinion and you can chose to disagree, but this is MY review.

Interior? I still think the new dash looks and feels cheap, however the stereo seems slightly upgraded (aside from the obvious AUX-Input) and sounds nicer than my 2005. I still love the white gauges, and this pickup came with the overhead console as well. I hate the seats in this truck, they are VERY uncomfortable and I have a difficult time getting in and out of the vehicle. As some of you know, I'm 3 inches shy of 7 feet tall, but I don't have any problems getting in and out of my 2005. I'm not sure exactly what the difference is, just different design I guess. More rigid/stiff and some strange angles on the seat, especially the head-rest. Or maybe I just like to complain?

Driving? When I first start the truck and pull out of my driveway and down the block, the steering wheel is VERY difficult to turn, it's almost like the power steering pump just isn't quite tough enough for the job. After a while it softens up though. I had hoped that after a while it would break in, but that does not seem to be the case. This truck does not seem to turn very well either, even in 2WD there is a lot of rubbing/grinding in the wheel wells. I have also noticed that this truck feels every little bump in the road, I have tried reducing tire pressure to compensate, and yes the Goodyear's still suck!

Of course I am a little biased because I love my own truck and this is just a loaner, but I give it thumbs up where it deserves to be. The 20" wheels are nicer than my factory ones, and the road noise is slightly improved, and I already mentioned the stereo and a few other things that they have improved on. I just think the quality is beginning to slip, and I would hate to see my favorite vehicle end up a pile of ****... Know what I mean?

Oh, one last thing - this truck has no LSD and it's friggin' killing me. I can't make a simple turn around a corner without one wheel flaming up, I have no damn traction, and it sucks!

Default RE: My Review: 2007 Dodge RAM

my 06 is my first dodge Ram, I'm not a fan of the restyled grill and head lights, but I don't have to look at when I'm driving, the white faced gauges are GD a waste of space, the sunlight relectes of the red neadels and I see two needles in place of one, I'm not a fan of this ghosting effect.

At night the instermintation is ok

So, I don't look at the gauges when I drive, the radio, in 06 and up just sucks in sound quality, So I don't listen much to the tunes, I do agree the Christine like tail lights look odd.

Aside from the minor issues above, I realy like the performance, ride and handeling, ( I have a 2500 SLT ) I use my truck for work and it dose awsome for work tasks.

The ride in the 1500 automatic Rams is to ok ...

The 2nd generation Ram, 95 or 96 I like the styling than more than the 06

I have an 06 1500 QC 4x4...my only complaint thus far after a year of ownership is the crappy *** factory sound system. The speakers absolutely suck. Other than having it in twice for an alignment issue this truck is absolutely tops in my book. I'vehad no issues of rubbing at full turn on mine, I have the 20" tire package. The seats aren't the best I've had and I actually liked the ones in my old 96 1500 better. I'm just leasing it but barring a bastardization of the 08-09 alleged redesign I will definitely lease another in 08 when my lease is up.
