Default engine noise

Great info guys!! Just spent the last 6 hours reading. I am new owner of a 07 ctd quad 4x4. So far I love it. However, I seem to notice a ticking/knocking/gargling noise when I accelaerate. Also every once in a while the engine will seem to have a prevalent knock. I am at 3800 miles with no oil change yet. Can anyone relate to these noise in a new ctd. Is this normal noise during breakin? Dealer says no worries!!!! However , I am looking for a million miles and want perfection. Also any comments on first time oil. Was in BJ's and they have a good deal on mobil 1 non synthetic. Thanks Ed

I would suggest an immediate oil change. I make it a habit on new vehicles to change the oil after 1000 miles. I worry about all the left over particles from the machining processes. The fact that you have exceeded the 3000 mile mark on a brand new vehicle should concern you.
Great place to start anyway.
Welcome aboard!

800 miles over the recomended oil change hmmmmm thats not perfection, Id change it very soon. I use mobile one grey cap 5-20 and have since 1500 miles and change it at 3000 miles its not cheap but if your looking for a million miles its a good start.

If you're really concerned, I'd STRONGLY recommend using a totally clean drain pan, and save the spent oil to a clean container for a thourough check for any metals, bearing material. Then you have something to bring to D/M in the event you need to exercise the warranty.

I have the 6 spd M/B tranny behind my 5.7, and I notice that when I take off at a low rpm, the unit seems to growl. I brought this to the attention of my dealer, they checked it out and said it was normal.
This also has a dual mass flywheel and can't help think that the flywheel has something to do with it.
