Absolutely love it. Didn't want the HEMI, didn't want four doors, just something with great torque that's fun to drive. Looks great too. Power is always satisfying with the 3.92's. Turn off O/D, floor it and the whole thing rocks back like an early muscle car. I never get tired of it! I think it's a better sounding engine than the HEMI, especially with the Flows. I've also towed trailers that had no business on the back of my little truck but I took 'em to 70mph with no problems. As long as you let it breathe, it'll do whatever you need. Even some nice doughnuts...

I have a new '07 1500 quadcab, 4.7 with a MANUAL tranny, which is what you are looking for (except you are looking at a reg cab). The 4.7 moves it along very well. It won't glue you to the seat, but it has enough power to do anything a 1500 should do.

Each to their own, but here my 2 cents.
I have a 02 regular cab 1500 4X4, 4.7, 8ft bed, automatic (no budging on the transmission choice) with a 3.55 rear gear. I tow a livestock trailer at about 5,000 lbs. No problems. It does well.
I wanted a 2500 diesel, 4-door, 8ft bed, automatic. That was just not in the budget.
Swapping gears and adding mods will cost a lot after you purchase. Make a wise choice before you buy and you could save in the long run.

Ihave a 02 qc 4.7 andI pull cars with mine. I love it sometimes and sometimesI dont. I had it up to 90mph with a bobcat trailer and i have not done anything to it but i have alot of stuff that i want to try on it. I race import and want to try something on the truck to see how it do. I love how much gas it takes.I can fill up with less then 50$ and i use 93.

I have an 03 QC 4.7 and it does just fine most of the time......
I haul my ATV's to northern WI several times a year (350+ miles) It pulls just fine. But last fall I towed the same ATV's from Wisconsin to Colorado. Through one mountain pass I was running almost 5k RPM's and was barely holding 50 MPH. I quickly realized how much I'd like to get a 2500 diesel......

I have an '06 QC SB with the 4.7 and automatic in it and love the truck. If I was going to haul a lot I would have probably gone with the diesel. I have hauled on a few occasions and the truck did fine though. Good luck in whatever you decide on.

i have an 05 reg cab 4.7 and it does what i need it to but the gas mileage sucks just as bad as the hemi and if you plan on pulling anything with some wieght you might want to go with a cummins let me tell you it sucks some gas i only get about 14 mpg in town and like 17 on the highway and when i pull a small camper it goes down to around 11
RE: 4.7L owners Plz tell me what you think
I would suggest that if you are going to haul anything you go with a bigger engine. I have a small holiday trailer and if there is any wind, or hills, if just kills any speed you have. The standard tranny might even be a better option. Not a bad engine, I haven't had any problems, but it just seems like it is a little underpowered for a quad cab. It is constantly shifting when on the highway and burns gas just as bad or worse than the old 5.9L. Sincce I added the intake, muffler and programmer it does drive better and has a lot more power. Not a bad truck, just needs a bit of tuning to make it better
