How many and where are the resonators located on the 05 dodge ram?

 

1 resonator in 05 and it's the itty bitty muffler resembling thing near the end of the tail pipe.

 

I've never had a resonator in any of my previous vehicles. I was wondering what that little 'muffler looking' thingy was. Thanks.[/align][/align]My question is what happens if I remove that little sucker and put a piece of pipe in its place? I'm assuming that the exhaust will be louder. How much? Any comparison? Also could I get performance gains? Sounds like a possiblity (small gain, but possible I think). Thanks for any opinions/observations/advice.[/align]

 

I removed mine. No performance gains that I noticed. You will need to cut the hanger of the resonator and weld it back on the pipe. I had a piece of 3" pipe cut from a muffler shop and flared at both ends. Cost me $10 for the pipe.

 

What was your reasoning for removal?

 

in 06 they came with two. I had a weld in muffler installed and I had the last resonator removed and it made it sound better. The sound is not bad though and there is no in cab drone. If you get any kind of exhaust set up have the shop remove the resonator.
