My first post and first question
Hi to all,
I recently bought an '02 Ram QC w/4.7, 4X4. I love it!
I called Dodge and they sent me a build sheet. Under the 'add-ons' section it says; Remote/Illuminated Entry Group, (the code is AJFA). I figured this meant it came with keyless entry. I didn't get any fobs so I called my local dodge dealer and ordered two of them and made an appointment to get them programmed. I took it in and after about 20 minutes the service guy comes up to me and tells me he can't do it because I need the computer module, (RKE module?). He said the module would be $240 dollars. I don't know if that includes installation or not.
I've searched this site and found out that the module plugs into the back of the instrument cluster. And it sounds like a simple install. Except when I look under the dash I can't see the back of the instrument cluster! Too much stuff plus a metal plate.
Now my questions: Am I looking in the wrong place? Did I misunderstand the location? Do I have to take the dash apart? If I could confirm whether the module is there or not I could figure out which way to go next. I don't want to spend 240 bucks when I found them on the net for about 90 bucks and that includes two remotes. If it is there then I could go back to the dealer and tell them they need to try again.
Thanks for the help.

welcome to DF... cant help on your problem as i have a diesel... lots of room behind the dash and you can see everything for the most part... I would ask them what is included in the package and show them the build sheet. it might be that your truck wasnt built right from the factory... could happen...
You need to be looking right above and behind the E-Brake release handle. I had to hunt that thing down too. You'll see where it connects, and no, you shouldn't have to take apart your dash.
Thanks for the help...keep it coming.
Yes, I have power locks.
Hey dirtydodge02. What color is this thing? And about what dimensions? Oh and by the way, I'm from Powell, Wy. transplanted to Ohio. I used to compete in motorcycle trials in WY and was a member of the WMTA, which is based out of Casper. Went to a few meets at the Mosteller ranch. I, (we), hope to move back some day.
Thanks again.
