Horsepower
The 345 hp is the crank horsepower on a 'shaft dyno'
but even though 95% of the engines have a power steering pump attached
that original year 2003 SAE test was run without a power steering pump, which is a 'cheat' that the new SAE testing standards do not allow. GM, Ford and Toyota also alleged that Dodge had an unusual 'break in' proceedure on the 5.7 Hemi that loosened up the ring tension and gained a few more 'cheater's' horsepower.
Note the some of the 5.7 Hemi's in other vehicles after year 2005 now are rated 330 hp in the revised SAE test. This is a more accurate figure for the typical engine with a power steering pump and normal breakin.
