Default Overheating Instrument Cluster

I have had the shift interlock replaced. My 2003 1500 was stuck in park. Had it towed and mechanic said it was the interlock. It was replaced but did not fix the problem, He said it is somewhere in the instrument cluster that a short is causing the interlock to become hot and burn out. Any insight on this one? I am calling a dealer tomorrow. I can smell the interlock heating up. That can't be good.
