Default 1500 and plowing ?

I had started anothe post about tires size ( swapping 20 for 17's) anyhow i had said i was thinking of putting a plow on a 1500 as the dealer said that he would warranty it and i had alot of people say not to do this , well to night i was on the Dodge web site and i was checking into the trucks mostly a plow pkg for a 1500 Reg. cabi could not find one , is this true ? that even a Reg. Cab 1500 you can't put a plow on ? even GMC/Chevy's you can get that with there reg. cab. 1/2tons i had a few repley that it would hurt the front ends on these trucks sorry but this does not sound good to me as i was really going for a new Ram this time when i go back and lease but this gives me second thoughts i really don't need a 2500 as that is what i have now and all it does is plow my yard out with it and is my daily driver i just thought i could save a little by running a 1/2ton again but guess this is not going to happen , if i am wrong please let me know ! Thank you

Since DC specifically recommends against mounting snow plows on the 1500, it doesn't surprise me that the Dodge site wouldn't have any "official" support snow plow packages. Maybe you can find someone that can fabricate a custom installation. Or maybe even someone has an after-market installation kit for a 1500. I'd still be careful, though. When you look closely at the front-end design of the 1500 vs. the 2500, you can easily see that the 2500 is built for serious business. BTW, even though Chevy supports snow plows on their 1500s, I've seen my brother-in-law mess up his front-end while plowing--of course he was doing commercial-scale plowing of a parking lot when he gouged out a chunk of an asphalt curb.

The owner's manual warns against installing a front plow on a 1500. The IFS (independent front suspension) on a 1500 is not robust enough to handle a plow.

Plowing puts alot of wear and tear on the frame and front end. If I were you, I'd tried to find an old beater, that way when you tear it up, its no big deal.

the front suspension will be shot after about a week of good plowing on any 1/2 ton truck. it just cannot handle the weight of the plow

I am not putting down the Dodge but you really got to think about it these truck are getting so cheaply made back 20 to 30 years ago that is all we/they plowed with and they plowed everything , now for me i am just doing my two small driveways and i am not one to drive around town with my plow on either i have plowed with a S-10 blazer (one of the best i have had) a toyota pickup , a FJ40land cruiser all where second rigs for hunting, backroading etc. but i got sick of having three or more rigs all the time thats why i have the truck now my GMC2500HD but as i said before i really only use the 3/4T part for plowing , all trucks now are (1500)IFS even my 03 2500 is and it hasn't fallen apart yet and i really can't see as there is that much diffrents on the chevy/gmc 1500 and the 2500's i know theres a diffrents in the Dodges i have looked at them and read alot on both but to me this just makes no sense , and yes you can get a plow for a 1500 dodge, fisher and all the rest do make them but as i keep saying if it won't last under a little plowing ( front end , frame etc.) then i can't say that any of them should be on the road . I will look at the 2500 Ram soon but i guess i will also be looking at the 2500 GMC/Chevys too , you all have made agood point about trusting this dealership with putting a plow on a 1500 so i guess i will have to stick with the big ones ! (there go's the gas mileage)
