Default service bulletin related to code P2110

My truck displayed code P2110 a couple of days ago, and on the internet I found it to be "Throttle Actuator Control System - Forced Limited RPM." Anyway I took it to the dealer to have them verify and they told me they got the same result, and they said that their scanner showed that the failure had occurred 8 times (they told me that sometimes the code has to happen several times before the indicator light comes on).

There is a service bulletin indicating that the throttle body needs to be replaced, and the dealer wants $250 for the part and $80 to install. Are they trying to soak me, andis there another (cheaper) way I could rectify this? The bulletin indicates that it is a cold weather condition that occurs when it is below 0 degrees F, which for me is most of the winter. Also, if they just replace the throttle body with the same thing, won't it just happen again eventually?

They also said that service bulletins areonly covered if you're within the warranty guidelines, which I am not because I have 80 000 kms. I also thought this was odd because I thought bulletins would be covered any time.

I had to do the conversion to miles to figure out what 80k kilo's was.

damn, thats deceiving. You have roughly 50k miles om your truck. You might want to check and see if your truck was covered under the 7yr/70k protection plan---if so, you pay $150.00usd up front and the protection plan covers the rest. You are not the first to have this problem---and no you can't fix it any other way. It is a flaw from the factory. Do your homework before you hand them the cash. Honestly, though, I really don't think that they are jerking you around. You didn't mention what engine package you have---so, if you're running a 4.7L, Fastman Throttle bodies make an aftermarket replacement. If you're running a 5.7L you may have to go OEM replacement.

Good Luck
