Snobby british raggin' on the Ram
that was about the dumbest thing i've ever seen... so the 4,800 lb Ram only got beat by 20 something seconds? By a CAR made to do that sort of ****....that guy is a fool
You guys crack me up... Brit's make fun of everyone and everything, including their own... Your replies are exactly why the Brits love to poke fun at Americans.
The presenter is Jeremy Clarkson, he has a column in a leading British newspaper, published a couple of books and has made a fortune hosting Top Gear - by far the best car show put to television. I remember when the V10 was first put in the Ram... He tested one in England and while he made fun of the fuel consumption he also marvelled at its versatility. Remember gas costs 5 times as much in the UK, so something with an engine that averages 5 times the size of a British car engine is not seen with the same enthusiasm it's seen here.

The Brit is BANG ON!!!!
We do take the p*ss out of everything over here. That's why Monty Python and Benny hill is so popualr over in the US.
I myself have an 03 Hemi 4x4 and thought the same thing as tamuccmike.
But then I realised, he was being tongue in cheek.
I LOVE my Dodge. You should have seen the video about what he thought of the Furd Lightening......?
WOW........he really slated that, much worse than the Dodge!
I thought he might NEVER be granted a visa for the states again ,after some of the outrageous comments he made in the DVD that the video clip was taken from.
If you are all incensed at the Atom v Dodge, DON'T buy the DVD for Gods sake.
He slates all the American cars and SUV's etc that are tested.
You'll all have no T.V's left as you will have thrown anything and everything to hand at it ha ha ha.
He was right about the Range Rover 4x4 being the best 4x4 in the world though.
Awsome bit of kit.
Al.
What's funny is, that's Willowsprings Raceway here in southern CA. That little atom has even been spanked by a motorcycle. Lap times for road bikes are in the 1:28's I believe. Apples to oranges.
I think I understand British humor. I even like it a bit. That was just lame TV though.. That guy is a tool no matter where he comes from. As far as the performance, I thought the truck did well in the times and I'd bet that with a competent driver, it would have don't much better...
Sorry, I couldn't watch it all. I stopped watching when the Atom was halfway finished with its lap.
I have to mention that the video was shot in Austrailia, I think, as there are no deserts in GB. Beyond that, I can't tell between the accents of British and Aussie people, unless the Brits are either talking like James Bond or are actually Irish by descent. Aussies that have strong accents such as Steve Irwin or Crocodile Dundee, I can usually determine that they are actually Aussie.
The guy just plain sucked. I've no idea why he's even comparing a 5000+ LB truck to the Atom. I've no idea why he even has that truck on the track. I wonder why they didn't get a Ram SRT10 to test. That would've been quite a bit less dumb.
And, the whole time, his comments about American products (and Americans in general) are pretty close to slurs. Comparing the modern American truck to a covered wagon. He also stated that the truck has 17bhp and that the Atom has 300bhp. The truck itself actually has 40-45hp more than that Atom. Maybe I'm confused about the ratings here vs. Austrailia.
There's not too many times I stop watching a video midstream...this is one of those times, though.
[EDIT - read above that the track is actually Willow Springs...that true? WTF...go to another country using their track to bag on American products??]

guys...guys... he's english... he isn't supposed to be smart and the things he says don't have to make any amount of sense or have any base in the real world...
its like expecting a waterheaded chiwawa to do calculus

what a ***got, he looks like one of those people that likes to talk about cars and make it look like he knows what he is talking about, but never likes to get his hands dirty, rather have someone else fix all the problems. Why is it being tested on a track and against some little go-kart that if in an accident, you would probably be killed instantly. Lets do a towing test and drag that little piece of **** around the track or make them both pull trailers and do a time test, then see what gets the better time. Also, the guy driving made it seem like he was purposely driving it off the track. Although, i did find it humourous when he said talked about using all the gas in one corner. Its a truck, not a sports car!!!
