The old lady lost one of my keys for my '06 2500 HEMI Quad cab. The kind with the automatic door lock/unlock.... I called the dealership & holy #!*@ they want $130 per key and $30 more to program each one. My local hardware store is unable to duplicate this type of key. Any tips for me before my one & only key also vanishes ?

Check with different dealers. That sound like a rip.

 

If you look on ebay, you could find a regular transponder key (wouldn't have lock/unlock) for pretty cheap. You could then take that to the dealer to program.

 

Yeah, what I did was buy the OEM key from a great guy on ebay and took it to the dealor and they programed it for $25.00, Make sure you get the key with the RAMS HEAD LOGO on the key if you get it from ebay, The guy I got mine from, his EBAY ID is daywlker7

my wife went and made me a key and it would turn off the alarm but when i crank the truck it would cut the kill switch off. and i though something was wrong with my truck.

 

Get your self some extra transponder keys. Once you have 2 keys programed you can do the rest your self with out paying the dealership.

 

I bought 2 transponder keys off ebay for $40.00 total. The dealer cut it for free and I programmed it myself for free, which you need 2 functioning keys for. So, do a quick search on ebay and check it out! Here'sone I foundquick:Item #, 250036367067 The dealer can cut bothby VIN # and progrmthemfor a lot less than the cost of the key. The only thing is you wont get the remote part, but I had a remote start, lock, unlock installed so I wanted a key without the remote.
