Default Hood scoop question

I was just wondering, does anyone know if the real SRT-10 hood functional? Intake or cooling air? Maybe 94rt10ohio could help shed some light on this?

Unlike the Daytona scoop the SRT-10 scoop is open, however it is not attached to any airbox. Only funnels cool air into the engine compartment.

It is impossible to get a direct shot intake from the scoop into the front of the V10, the V10 sits to far forward. The TB and scoop are pretty much in the same position, well other than the scoop being about 20" higher....

Roe made a top mount S/C about 3 months ago. When installed the air cleaner sits right behind the scoop. Less than 12 months and one will be on my truck!!

I shudder seeing that v-10 with the s/c on top. What HP does it get with it? Bet it's an absolute blast to drive.

That truck had a base dyno of 468 RWHP before and 620 RWHP after, this with only 5.6lbs of boost. I plan on going 6, maybe 6.5 if I feel lucky. The GEN III Viper engine does not have forged internals and most say do not go over 6 to be safe, well unless you tear your engine down and replace the pistons. In addition bigger injectors would be needed for bigger boost.

Sounds like a hell of a plan. I'd like to try it. Only problem is, kinda need to get an SRT-10 first! lol Maybe in my next lifetime.
