Default Oil pressur gauge question.

For about the last two months, there will be mornings when I start the 'pig' and my 'check gauges' light will come on. I do as it says and I see my oil pressure is stuck on low. However, if I turn the ignition off, and than start the truck again, everything is fine.

Any ideas about what might be causing this?

Thanks for your time.

Default RE: Oil pressur gauge question.

I'd find out what the codes are behind the "check engine light." Autozone and Advanced Auto, to name a few, will check the codes for free. Failing that, I assume you checked the oil level and its fine. The oil is within it's scheduled maintenance interval (3,000 to 6,000 mi). And, it is of the correct viscosity range 5W20 for the Hemi, 5W30 for the 4.7 and v6. If all of the above is correct, do you here bearing tapping after startup? If not, then you may be getting some oil pressure to the crank bearings. Could be an electrical fault causing the pressure gauge and/or sending unit to falsely report low pressure. You really need the codes to know for sure. If pressure is genuinely low, AND the oil and filter is within specs, you'll probably need the dealer to diagnose the cause.

Default RE: Oil pressur gauge question.

There is a TSB on the pickup tube in the oil pan on the 2003 Hemi.
I have the same problem on my 2003 Hemi Ram, but the strange thing is that 2 wintersback the check gauges came oneverytime I started the truck below -10*c. Last winter it didn“t happend to me at all.
This winter same as 2 years ago, check gauges at every cold start below -10*c.
I wonderwhat will happend next winter, ore I can go out in the garage and change the new pickup tube I got under warranty.
