Ice in the drivers door
well i took my 05 quad cab to the dealer beacuse lately I have been hearing a rattle in the door. I sit around waiting for about an hour and the service guy comes up and tells me that it will be 80 bucks because they found ice in the door thats what was making the rattle and chysler will not cover this under warranty. I have never been so pissed off. Has anyone ever heard of water getting in the actual door, it seems like a problem to me, they said its normal. I am calling bull**** on this. what do you guys think? if water sits in there that is a scary situation for rust problems in the future.
All the time, especially if you've ever driven an old car for any length of time. It isn't hard for water to get it in there, that's why there's insulation and some sort of plastic or something to prevent water intrusion from out to in. There is also supposed to be drain holes in the bottom, but if it doesn't get warm enough to melt the ice so it can drain, or the drain holes are clogged, I can see how you'd end up with a rattle. However, nothing can be covered under warranty because there wasn't anything to fix. I'm not defending the dealer, but that is pretty much the long and short of it. Just like a dealership though they are going to charge an arm and a leg for what labor they did do. My boss just got hosed on his corvette for $1800 because of a hypertech programmer. It apparently had a battery that died mid-program and not only fried one but 2 of them. It required complete ripping apart of the dash (This is a '95). Now he's afraid to do anything to it ever again and I won't ever look at a Hypertech product.
