remote filter for tranny
I used to have a saturn that had a filter similar to an engine oil filter on the tranny . Replacing the tranny fluid was as easy as replacing the engine oil. My question is : Is it posible to tap in by the tranny oil cooler with a remote type oil filtering system ? I'm getting the tranny pan with an oil plug and fins and though that it would be easier to just swap out filters and change the tranny oil more often. And every so often take the pan off and replace the inside filter. Does anyone know if it would restrict the oil flow?
The transmission already has two filters; one is the sump filter and a second spin on filter.
You could tap the line going to or returning from the cooler. But why bother. Changing the fluid at such an intersection does not provide access to the internal filters, nor for cleaning out any sludge in the bottom of the pan.

Just was thinking that I could cange the oil more often. I would, of course, open the pan every so often to clean the sludge and change the interior filter. If you change the oil often and you won't have sludge problems.
Just wondering : Where is that secound "Spin On" filter?
And any one else on this Idea?
