I did some math and I can build an enclosure for an 8" that will fit in the console. Would this be enough bass or should I build a whole new console that would fit a 10". I don't need the thumping bass that can be heard for blocks away. I just want a solid bottom end to fill out the music I listen too. Anyone have any experience with an 8" in this truck? How was the bass level?

Inan RC I'd say yeah, but asingle 8 might be a little weak for a QC.You couldsplit your mids and the single sub with a balancerand possibly get some decent sound out of it. I just ran out with a tape and measured across the seat. It may be possible to squeeze a 10 under there which would sound just fine. Did you actually pull the seat and take measurements and stuff? Are you going to preamp the 8? That would help immensely.

I have heard a pair of 8" not in a truck or even in a vehicle, but with the right amp they sounded great for just filling in that bass line. you could even feel the bass a little. Seeing as how it will be right next to you will probably be happy with the results just don't cheep out on the amp or the deck.

I have talked with the owner of a local car stereo shop, going over plans to build a box to mount right behind the middle of the front seat and the rear seat of my truck (might lose use of rear cup holders, oh well). He suggests aiming the sub down, not up like most sub woofer setups, extending the sides of the box down to create a gap of 1-1.5 inches between the top of the sub and the floor. I am not sure if this will help in your planning, but good luck. A great website for car audio is http://www.bcae1.com/

Im in the process of making a fiberglass box in the void under the center seat. I wanted it to look stock and be removable for if I decide I dont like it... I tapped of the lower black plastic shell and fiberglassed it for a perfect fit next Im going to make an upper box to connect to it. the plan is to put 1 12 in it...
