Default fan blower motor 2006

My 06 heater/ac fan blower keeps blowing the resistor box for the speed control. It only works on #4 setting. The dealer said they checked the whole system but they obviously didnt because 1 hour after I left the dealer it made some more noise and only works on #4 again. The dealer that did it said it was because I used the recirculate position when it was cold out and it causes condensation and blows all the electrical for the fan motor... wtf. I called other dodge dealers and they said the one that said that and did the work is nuckin futs... it's going to another dodge dealer in a week or so, but does anyone know what may be going on.. Can you not use the recirculate poisiton in the cold?? Makes no sense to me.. BTW I was a die hard chevy owner before this truck. I've owned this truck for three months and it has 5500 miles on it and it has been to the dealer for more things then my chevys.. I thought dodge was a better brand.. Please help I love this truck but it's starting to bring me down ALOT! Thanks in advance. Moral support would help too, lol!

[sm=partyparty.gif] = moral support

anyway,
it does sound like something has gotten into your electics. you may have a bad bearing which is causeing the noise and the malfunction.
If you remove your blower, with the squirrel cage (wheel) still on try and move the shaft. if it moves even a little bit the bearing is bad and causeing the short.

Is there anything that could be blocked by ice or something that could be causing it to blow???

I have heard from several people that if you are blowing resistors then that is usually a sign that your blower motor is going out. It isn't that expensive and fairly easy to install so I would try that along with another resistor for good measure and see if it takes care of your problem.

According to the schematic, there is nothing but the blower motor, the resistor block (three in series with taps), and the switch in that circuit. The High speed position is the "No series resistor" position, and that expains why it would work when one of the resistors blows.
There must be aover current condition caused by the blower motor. Could be an intermittant shorted winding, or a locked rotor condition due to bad bearing, or foreign object in the "squirrel cage."
