HELP ... squeaking/rubbing from LSD
I am hearing a rubbing/squeaking sound from under my truck near the LSD. It sounds almost like something rubbing on a rubber tire. The squeaking speeds up as I accelerate. It eventually goes so fast that I can't hear it anymore when travelling at 30 mph or more. I am hearing the sound when I back-up now too.
I had my rear axle fluid changed by Jiffy Lube at 72 000 km. I now have around 80 000 km on my truck. Could they have forgotten to put in the limited slip additive? Moron me didn't keep the receipt so I have no way of checking. If so, would I have incured any damage to my LSD with 8000 km put on it under normal driving conditions?
Any ideas as to what is making that sound would be appreciated! Help!

Before you think the worst I would check your yoke and u joints. I have also seen a lot on here about out of align drive shafts, something else that might cause this could be bearings. That is fairly easy to check for jack the truck up move the wheel in and out towards the differential and if it moves then you need bearings. If it isn't any of these, I don't know how long it took to put 8000 km on it but you might check with the shop they may be honest enough to look back at their records and tell you.
