Default Oem Sirius install. Is starscan needed?

Ok, this question is about my 06 Ram. I have the 6 disc and just installed an OEM Sirius unit. I get channel 184 on the display, but it says no signal. Did I mess up somewhere? Or will it read like that until the Starscan is done? I just dont want to take it in and get it done (Starscan) and have the tech tell me I have a problem.

Somewhere in your paperwork there should be a phone number that you call...and the customer service representativewill lead you through the process to activate your account. If you can't find it, try going online to the Sirius website to find out how to contact customer service.

you need to have the starscan to reconfigure the front control module for satellite radio.

Thanks. The install instructions state that. Do you know if it will read no signal until yhat is done?? I should have been a little clearer in my question.

Not sure if this will help, but I installed a stand alone unit in my truck a couple weeks ago and I got a signal instantly. You need this to activate your subscription. So it looks like you'll have to use this Starscan?
