I recently purchased a leftover 2006 Dodge Ram 1500, QC, 4x4, Hemi with the 5spd auto. The truck has plenty of power but the tranny doesn’t seem to shift right. The first few gears don’t shift very fluidly, when it goes from 1st – 2nd – 3rd it goes out of gear, hesitates and then goes in to the next gear. It almost reminds me of someone shifting a manual transmission that doesn’t know what they’re doing. I brought it back to dodge to have them look at it but they said its how they all are. Is this accurate?

Any information you could provide would be appreciated. I eventually plan on buying a travel trailer and would like to get these issues resolved before doing so.

I have an 06 ram QC with a hemi it did the same thing new. I have 7000 miles on it now and it seemed to go away

 

The dealer told me that it's an "intuitive transmission" and it will change over time based on my driving. Not sure if that's valid but I'm glad to hear it went away on your truck. Thanks...
