2005 Ram stalling problem
Since October I've had stalling problems with my 2005, 4.7 V8 regular cab Ram 1500. It only ever happens when I'm slowing to make my first stop or turn on after startup - then I restart it and I'm good to go. It will jerk a little then just shut down. On 2 occasions I actually rolled past the stop sign and was pretty close to getting him by an oncoming truck. I had it back into the dealership this past week and they still say that they cannot find anything wrong with it and that thay have not heard of this problem. I cannot believe that I am the only one who has this happening. So, has anyone else here had/have this problem and if so have you been able to get it fixed. I've read somewhere else online that it is the Idle Speed Control motor that is bad on these models and it is the cause of this but the dealer would not change with under warranty unless there was a code on the computer or if it were recalled. They did offer to keep my truck indefinitely and drive it everyday until it happends when they're driving it, which would be fine if they'd offer a courtesy rental truck, but they said no to that. So, now I'm basically stuck with a dangerous problem that the dealer cannot fix. Can someone here please help me, honestly, I'm considering trading already and it only has 13000 miles on it. Tell me I'm not the only one experiencing this.
thanks

Hey... I have the same problem as well, mine has been an on going issue for almost 2 years now, and the dealer does not know whats wrong with it. They say no one else has experienced this, however it appears you guys have the same problem.
Any outcome?

HammerZ71, I've got an '05 4.9L V8 Ram that keeps stalling in stop and go type traffic only at low RPM once the engine is warm. Will the thermostat "bandaid" work for this engine as well?
Thanks

I won't 100% say it will, but it's a cheap thing to try, and I've seen it get rid of the issue completely, many times. It's really not a bad thing to keep your engine a tad cooler anyway, so if it fixes the issue as well, it's a bonus...
