pretty sure it was for the short block. i have the truck in for some warranty work, and we were discussing the possibility of needing and engine change, i brought up the idea of going with the 6.1 and paying the difference, so they looked up the price for me to give me an idea... and it wasnt that much. but then again, they didnt know if they were the same basic block or not, or whether the cams/heads/etc. were interchangeable... i dont trust my dealership here...

cam, crank, heads, intake etc are all interchangeable.

intake and heads may bolt in place
but you need to keep in mind
that the port size will be mis-matched
and will need to be modified for good flow.

www.thehemishop.com uses alot of 6.1 parts on the 5.7. They sell a 6.1 intake for our trucks and it comes with all the stuff to make i mate right up.
