Default removing stock honeycomb grille

im trying to remove the stock grille off my '02 to put in a billet one. the bottom has these little plastic flat head screws that seem to expand on the back side inorder to hold them in place. anyone have a technique for getting them on clean and easy? i got one off put it took needle nosed plyers, screw driver and pushing on the outside of the grille. im sure theres a proper method for popping these things out real quick?

i feel your pain bud. i was in the same boat a couple of months ago. what i did was push the center through the center of the plastic fasteners holding the honeycrap in. i used a pair of dikes and a pair of needle nose to grasp the plast after pushing the centers out. hope this helps. be careful puting the new grill in especialy if you got a plastic one! dont force it. hope this helps.

Alot of times if you have a pick or a small screw driver your can insert it between the 2 pieces to apply outward pressure. alot of times they will pop ot far enough to be able to grab them and pull them out. body shop experience teaches you alot of tricks.

i tried the small screw driver method, it does work but is tedious and risky. ha my friend worked at a body shop and stopped by to try to help me and he was like "ive never seen clips like this in my life"

I did the same.. I took a small punch, and a light weight hammer and puched the center through.. The new grille came with new hardware right??? Mine did, so the little plastic fasteners had no value to me.

I just used a punch and a small hammer as mentioned, and they popped out pretty easy. Just punch the center all the way through until it comes out of the other side.
