Squirrel in Engine bay!!!
Yep, I got into my truck at about 1:45 to go to my class that starts at 2:15 when I heard a really weird noise on start-up. It didn't sound good, so I thought to myself, should I pop the hood and look at it while taking the chance of being late to school? Well I poped the hood, and as I walked around the front of the truck there was a HUGE squirrel laying on the ground beneath it. I was relieved that is was nothing serious, but felt bad for the little guy at the same time. Didn't even know what hit em'!
Question: What was he doing under there? Do squirrels eat wiring like rats do? It's 70+ degrees F* outside today, so I can't imagine it was trying to stay warm. I looked in the engine bay when I got home from school, and everything looks fine, ie wiring and the like. Any ideas?

Lol this reminds me of the stories my dad has told me of when he was in the Marine Corps and when he was stationed in 29 palms abd rattle snakes used to climb up and sleep in the engine bays of the humvees. He said they got shredded to **** when he fired up the motor.
They sure will eat wires. A close friend of mine had a Dakota R/T and he had one chew up a bunch of wires under his hood. Needless to say it cost a lot to repair. He works for the city and drives a city truck so his truck would sit for a week at a time sometimes. The dealer found what he called a nest under the hood. Said it happens more then you think.
So keep them over grown rats out of your truck before you are having your truck re wired

Squirrels aren't known to be smart. They are our worst nightmares here at work, I am a dispatcher for an electric company and I'd say half of our calls are caused by squirrels getting on our transformers, we also have to replace alot of service wire because they chew on them. Needless to say once they hit wire they join the squirrel that was in your engine bay. I'd say he was prolly having a little breakfast before you rudely interrupted him. lol you might want to look around in your engine bay and see if you can see any wire that he chewed on for awhile though. Nothing surprises me anymore about squirrels though. They are cute though. lol

I looked around to see where he was crawling, and I saw a few little footprints, but I couldn't find any wiring that looked like it had been messed with, I really dont know how long he was there.. I was only home for maybe 3-4 hours so it could have been a while.. It is bugging me, so I'm going back out there now to look around some more!! haha, thanks a lot guys..Glad I am not the only one with a funny story like this!
Well back in the day i had a twin turbo dodge stealth...started it up and made a loud bang under the hood and died....popped the hood and to my amazement....a cat apparently using the belt for a bed....(or trying to hang itself) belt snapped and bent up valves and all kinds of stuff cost $2200 just for the parts for me to fix it....pry not a bad idea to check under the hood before ya start it....lol
