For the fun of it my son and i tried outa new GMC1500 the other day and of course they asked about his truck and if he was going to trade it in , well for the heck of it he said yes so on it went well it didn't take long for the guy to ask why he was trading his in etc. anyhow we waited and when he came back he told him that his payment would be around 600 a month unless he could come up with some cash well we left but what i want to know is this , he has a brand new 2007 ram 1500 quad cab with the thunder road pkg. and less then 1,400 miles on it,it is inmint shape. what is this truck worth now ? new it was 35,240 i have looked at Kelley blue book and no luck also NADA with nothing does anybody have a clue ? the guy told him he had lost like 10,000 already since he drove it off the lot to me that seem alittle much maybe at the most 5,000 but even that would be high. Thanks for any help

The truth is it's worth only whatever they will give you on a trade.....or whatever you can get from a private sale. The important thing to remember is that you are the one with all the power.....you can always say "No" and/or walk away.

 

It does not matter what blue book and the others say. It is a market driven value that they use to price your trade. Also with all these incentives, that hurts your trade in value. Why buy a slightly used truck when for a little more you can get brand new? I just went through this and it is frustrating. I had the leather package, tow package and more just to hear the dealer say so. Red

 

The sad thing is this GMC dealership also owns the dodge/jeep dealership that this truck came from , he never asked and we didn't tell him but the funny thing was he woulded come at all close to what the pay off is and more or less said the truck wasn't worth what he owed ! sorry to say but i would take that as a slap in the face ! a new truck like his has got to be worth the $25,000 he owes on it but i was good and kept my mouth shut it was all in fun anyhow i'm the one that is going to be getting a new truck soon but don't think i will go to that dealership again , and yes those new GMC's are really nice i have a 2003 GMC 2500HD and am not happy with it at all but the new once's are some diffrent.

 

private sell it. if its that new why would you be getting a new truck anyway? plus dealers have to turn around and try to make a profit off of w/e you trade in. they'll never give you a decent amount.

 

If your truck was msrp 35240 then if i were bidding your truck i would A.C.V your truck at $22-23k. You can buy a $35k msrp ram right now for $25-26k brand new all day long right now. There is no way they would be willing to give you more then what the could buy a new one for !!!
