Default Newbie intro who needs help buying first Ram

Hello everyone...brand new member here from Michigan!

I have long been a Jeep TJ owner who is now planning to buya Dodge Ram. I am looking very seriously ata 2003 Quad Cab 4X4 with a Hemi that has 17K miles on it. Dealer is asking $16,800 for it. I test drove it yesterday and I will pick it up again tomorrow to look at it more in depth at the shop.

My questions are, what should I be able to buy it for? What are some options that I should check to see it has? Do all Ram's come with a lim slip diff?

Again, I am brand new to Rams so bear with me!!

Check kbb.com for an idea of what it's worth. No, not all Rams come with LSD.

I did a KBB and its says it is worth $20,800 in excellent condition. This truck is definitely in excellent condition at first glance. Like I said we are taking it to the shop tomorrow to get in in the air and check everything out.

Anything in particular I should look for in a Ram for wear or early failure? What gear ratios should I steer away from and what are good?

that is excellent mileage for an 03 model, and the price seems pretty good. if it has 20 inch wheels on it, it most likely has a 3.92 limited slip rear. if it has 17s it most likely has a 3.55 open diff. there should be a sticker on the differentials telling you what gear ratio it has.
