exhaust for 07
ok i know everybody on here hates exhaust threads because they have been gone over time and time again, but i searched and couldnt find a good answer to my question, so i had to ask.
my dad got an 07 1500 yesterday and of course it has MDS (unfortunantly) so he was wantin to put some exhaust on it but i told him that the MDS engines sound like crap when it switches over to 4 cylinders. ive read conflicting opinions on here and some stated that in 07 they fixed the MDS so that it is less noticeable when it kicks in, even with louder exhaust on it. if he took it to a shop and got both resonators chopped off and kept the stock muffler and maybe got a bigger tip for it, would it sound pretty good when he got on it? and with a setup like that, that would be relatively quiet, would you be able to hear it when MDS kicks in? im thinking with that set up it will be quiet at idle, sound good when you romp on it, but at constant highway speeds will be quiet enough that it wont sound bad when MDS kicks in, but i dont know for sure. any help will be appreciated and im sorry once again for the exhaust thread. believe me i hated posting this just as much as yall are gonna hate me for posting it...

As far as mds goes, there's basically two options for an aftermarket exhaust. 1) Get a new muffler/catback/cutout muffler, etc. and cruise in tow/haul or OD off so that mds doesn't kick in. 2) Get an electric cutout and place it after the cat and before the muffler (very loud at the flip of a switch, quiet as stock when you switch it back).
I have also heard about the 07's being "fixed" for the mds sound, but I have also heard people with 07's saying they can hear the mds engage.
My personal recommendation would be an electric cutout from dmh. For 200 bucks and a 30 dollar install fee at a muffler shop, you get the best of both worlds.
