HILL BRAKE...anyone else
Gotta 07 Ram 1500 Quad Larimie. Come to find out it has a "hill brake" when the truck is in drive and the inlcine is over approximatley 15% I can let off the brake and they will hold for 1-2 seconds. Problem is when they do release I get a shutter in the brake pedal and a thumping sound through the sterring colum. The local dealer has seen and heard it and contacted whoever they contact when they are LOST. They are the ones that told them my truck has a hill brake. They don't have a truck on their lot with the options I have, so they can't test another truck. I guess 4WABS and ESP is hard to come by! I said what about all the noise it is making...I got the "it is new to us" runaround. Here I am trying to fix a brand new truck myself...what is a warranty for?
Second issue I am having is every time I start the truck, put it in drive, roll a few feet, I get a thump in the sterring colum and the floor board area. Sometime it is louder than others. Unless I shut the truck off and do the same proceedure it won't happen again. I can duplicate it every time. The dealer seems to have a hearing problem...in other words they cannot hear it...what is a warranty for? I think it is an issue with the ESP or the electronic throttle but I am not a dodge tech.
ANY help with these issues would be great...

That thump is probably the compressor hitting the firewall or something. Its raining here so I cant go see where it sits in the engine compartment. When I had a mustang it did the same thing so the dealership wrapped it in some high density foam to pad it from slamming against the firewall.
damn that doesnt sound like something of quality if the compressor has that mutch play in its mounts that it can shudder against something! never heard of a hill brake but my hemi will idle low enough that i can let my foot off the brake at a stop light and i wont roll forward a single inch. the truck will just sit there like a manual tranny with the clutch engaged and mine an auto.
