i had duals on my 4.7 and that sucker was pretty damn loud, but it got annoying when going on long trips cause all ya heard was the same ole sound...i'm goin with a borla on this truck i have now, mainly cause i havent seen too much promise from any other aftermarket exhausts that work well with lowered trucks and the clearance problem of the exhaust and the leaf spring....sounds pretty good right now tho with stock exhaust and CAI

I wonder if you moved the muffler back, where it wasn't under the cab, if it would drone as much?

I have Magnaflow Duals on my 04 1500, and love it! It is not overbearing like Flowmasters......just a nice rumble when driving. I am sure that if you just want a good rumble, not a full blown roar, then Magnaflows would be your choice.

I am using the Flowmaster 50 Series SUV model. The 40 series is a bit too loud for my tastes and you said nothing too radical. Remove the resonator too. I get 2 more MPG with the exhuast change. It sounds great and more power.

sounds hella good! damn, i like the intake... all you hear is it sucking like no other... well, my ex sucked real well, but damn! this thing sucks a grip!

btw, we're looking at a HEMI with the MDS. that app. sounded hella good on your 4.7 though. too bad the MDS will sound like crap with any aftermarket exhaust... *sigh*
thanks alot

So are you in agreement with the whole MDS situation? Do you hear a change in tone at any time during your driving..?

Thanks for the feedback....

well, i dont know what you define as "crap" but to me, when i read all the exhaust q's with the MDS, they all say that when the MDS kicks in, the exhaust sounds like a pin dropped in a tin can... so basically youre sounding like a ricer. but it will still sound fine with the 8 cylinders going though... well, you can either put one in, or you can not... for me, im not gonna take that route of putting it in and spending money on something i know will sound bad when i cruise. but to each his own.

seems to me that you have some extra cash flow, so why not risk it if you have enough that is. and see how it sounds. if you dont like it... take it off! lol. good luck!
Problem is that I have been dumping too much money on this thing and I have other upgrades going..... I've just spent a good amount at the shop for the Sport/Night Runner Look, I also have a set of SRT-10 wheels which will be available in 3-weeks... I'm then doing some custom work to those... The Headlights, I'm looking into a bed-lid, then bed-liner, window tinting, lifting.... It doesn't end... I'm just trying to figure things out before just dropping more $$$.... The little lady understands myobsession but I don't want to push the envelope.

Thanks,

=Eli

I had a Magnaflow muffler installed, last month, at an exhaust shop. I did not see any point in buying a cat-back kit since the factory tailpipe is 3" and mandrel bent. It sounds a little bit louder at idle. It sounds a lot better (than stock) accelerating and cruising. My mileage (overhaead computer) went from 10.8 to 11.0 miles per gallon in the city. Every little bit helps.

well, when you look at it, you will spend more money upgrading for "better MPG" than you would save gas. you understand what im tryna say? so lets say you buy a, for example, a tonneau cover, which people swear that its saves them gas which i do believe and im getting for looks, not MPG... you spend $1100 for a fiberglass one to save maybe $20-50/year on gas. you know? it all works out better for the companies claiming the better MPG than yourself. but hey, to each his own.

btw, haha, can you send me some cash over here for some upgrades? lol. j/k.

Actually the cover is not for gas at all... I don't believe that you save gas at all..... I just need a lid to put on so if I have a wheel or supplieswith me I can stop for lunch and not have to worry about someone lifting it out of the bed...
