Resonators?
I have installed Magnaflow Dual exhause on my 2004 1500. I love the sound they provide, but I have heard about gaining a bit more by removing the resonators. Now, my question is....what are they, and where are they located, and when I get to them.....how do I remove them? I have been toying with trying to remove the cats, but dont know if it will screw with the computer seeing as how I have dual cats and oxygen sensors on either side of each ot them ( California emissions package). Anything you guys could help me with would be great.
I put on a Flowmaster 50 Series SUV muffler and also removed the rear muffler. I tried it first in and then removed it. Quite a difference in sound. At least on the Mega Cab, it is above the rear axle. Remove it and installa pipe in its place.
Your 04 will have 1 resonator and one muffler. The resonator is the thing before the HUGE muffler that looks like a little muffler. It will make your exhaust louder as the point of the resonator is to get rid of exhaust resonance. Tons of guys get rid of their resonators. In 06 we got 2 resonators because of the MDS and I dumped one of mine.
