Aft brake rotor removal problem
I toasted the left aft brakes (the pad fell off and the shoe grinded therotor a bit) and am trying to remove the disk. I removed the brake caliper assembly but the rotor seems to be stuck to the hub.
Can I pound on it (the center, obviously not the disk itself) og is it fastened in some misterious way?
Help please, I'm puzzled...

What happens is some rusting occurs between the inner rim of the rotor and the axle hub causing it to get VERY tight. I found the best cure so far for myself is just to give it a good kick or two--usually breaks free. If not, try using a rubber mallet from the back giving it some good smacks. Rotate it after each hit (not all in the same place), it will come loose. If at some point you decide that this isn't working either, there are some HUGE three fingered pullers available at the parts houses you can rent, but once you get to this point, you may end up breaking it during the pull. To prevent this from happening in the future, wire brush the inner diameter of the used rotor (new ones are already clean) and the hub backing until clean, then put a very sparing coat of copper anti-seize on the area of the hub that the rotor rides on and the back area that it seats against---make sure you wipe off any excess---takes longer to type this than it does to do it.
