Milage/Economy?
Thinking 'bout trading in my '00, 4.7ltr, V8, 4x4 Dakota for a Ram 1500, 4x4, V8('03, '04,'05model)
Was wondering how much milage city and highway you all are getting. Can some chime in with some numbers for the 4.7 ltr and the larger engine as well. (4x4's only though)
I know others have posted some info but in most posts the poster fails to say if its a 4x4 or not, and wether it's a manual or auto.
Thanks gigantically in advance.

https://dodgeforum.com/m_181078/tm.htm That is the gas mileage thread up in the stickies. 30 pages of info so that should do the trick.

RE: Milage/Economy?
well, the HEMIs with MDS (06-07) get good MPG. 4x4's wont waste more/less gas than a 4x2. i know, i know, it sounds like 4x4 would... but it really doesnt b/c youre always on 2wd unless you hit the switch for 4x4. so 4x4's and 4x2's are equal in MPG if they are the same engine of course. i want to say that HEMI 03-05 models, stock, are getting between 16-18 overall, 50/50 driving.thats real goodi hope i helped somewhat.

Twice in the past I have gone through long lists of 'whats your MPG' posts' and averaged the results for both 1994-2001 Rams and 2002+ Rams.
The overall average seems to be 13 MPG in mixed driving in both cases.
The older Rams had less efficient gasoline engines
but more efficient aerodynamic bodies,
and transmissions with less internal drag.
The newer Rams have 8-12% more efficient gasoline engines
but blunter body fronts with worse aerodynamics
and 45 and 545 automatic trans with more planetary gearsets
that cause more internal friction.
The all-time champion Ram for fuel economy is the 1998
12 valve Cummins 2500 2wd manual 5 speed trans
which has the BOTH most efficient engine and the most aerodynamic body
and can trully get 17-20 MPG in mixed driving.
With a little 'bombing' this year Ram can also be a fast accelerator
equal to nearly any other year's Ram gasoline or diesel.

Can't speak for anyone else. I've got an '03 2500 Quad cab, stock tires, K&N air filter, Flow Master catback duals. Best I get is around 9 in the city, and 13 hwy. You have to stay around 60 - 65 to get that on the hwy too. For every 5 mph I found I go above that, I lose about 1 mpg.
