Ram 2500 with 6-speed manual?
I have a 06 2500 5.7 and six speed, 373 ltd slip. I really like the 6 sp, but, It is not built for accleraation or running with the good old boy's in NASCAR, It is built for torque and a awsome power house.
My highway mileage is hitting 22 mpg, not bad for a reg cab 4x4, I did swap out the orginal ex system and installed dual ex.
It took me a while to get used to the manual tranny, reverse is down and to the left and when down shifting, 3 and 5 are really close, but it's easy to get used to... THe six speed combo is by no means slow, more than what you need for daily driving.

I have a 06 2500 5.7 6-speed quad cab SLT Big Horn. I just got it about 2 weeks ago and still on first tank of gas.I used to drive stick, but havent for a few years. I wasalways complaining about the slipping and slow downshifts of automatics, so I decided to try a stick again (and I got a good deal on it). So far I think I like it. Reverse is a little awkward, but getting used to it. General driving it performs great. 1st gear is just a granny gear. I only use it if starting on a steep hill or with a load. I do like the added control, but am still adjusting to driving stick again.
I haul a lot of stuff in the bed, and the only thing I dont really like is trying to back up slowly.Backing slowly then pushing in the clutch makes a clunking noise from the play in the driveshaft or something. Also does it in 1st sometimes. I will probablly get better with this as I get used to the truck more or maybe thats just the way it iscause its such a low gear.Cyclone 429, do you notice this?

If you push the clutch pedal in all the way, and than double clutch, you don't get that clunky noise your refering to, I don't likeelectronic throtle control, At times I don't allways get the clutch relase and hit gas pedal in Synic beacuse the Rpms don't drop below a 1000 Rpms when changing gears, the Dodge dealer told me this is for emissons.
On the + side, if your shifting below 1500 Rpm from 2nd to3rdto 4th, the RPM jumps up to 1700 RPM automaticly, which helps city mileage out quite a bit.
Themanual trans is very noisey at first, but as the miles break in the truck, you no longer feel like your driving a school bus.
And I love first gear in stop startrush hour driving, ( non free way ) You don't have to up shift/down shift as ofton in slow movingtrafic.

Thanks for the reply Cyclone. I also noticed the tranny seems a little noisy, and I was tthinking about asking the dealer about it. Can only hear it if you listen for it and radio isoff.Did yours quiet down after it broke in?
I dont understand what you mean by push the clutch in all the way and double clutch. I get the clunking noise if say I'm backing real slow with the clutch out, then when the clutch is pushed in it clunks. Maybe I'm running the RPMs too low before I use the clutch? I seem to do better riding the clutch more while backing, butI dont want to be hardon the it either.
The only time I used to really double clutch was when I droveWWII Ducks as a tour guide. Those you had to double clutch when shifting toany gear, and if its downshifting you had to rev the engine in between to match your speed or they grind the gears pretty bad.
