FYI, installing even a supercharger cannot void the warranty unless it causes the damage itself. They must prove that as well before they can void anything. So, adding a supercharger and the vehicle performing perfectly and then having an emissions part go due to it's own failuer meansthat Chrysler will have to honor the warranty because it's not a directly related part and went all by itself.

 

Yeah, it's the law. If you put a cat-back system on, the only thing voided is the parts that you removed.

 

Is it the Maguson-Moss warrenty act? I got a dealership on that about a year ago...lol. They tried to turn my buddy away because he had a C.I.A, and he had a rattling under the car. They have to look at any car, and if THAT caused the prolem, they still have to prove it.


When I lower my Ram, and the radio fails, chances are, it wasn't the lowering kit. Also, lowering, and lifting will not void our powertrain warrenty.

The only reason I remember is because I have had to use it on dealerships. Most of the guys there don't even know it, but unless you read up on the law, most people won't know what it is. I have a '08 Ram that I want to lower. I asked the dealership if they would void our lifetime powertrain warrenty. I can't lose my powertrain warrenty. He said no, unless I cause something to go wrong, then they would charge me. I can live with that, but I don't want to lose it completely, eventhough I can't because of the act.

 

Good info. Im not saying all dealerships are out to get people, but some of them definitely are. so its good to know the law with modding.

 

The Dodge dealer I got my Ram from has been pretty cool with the idea of modding. I had problems with my wifes '06 Civic SI's dealer though. I talked to them, and thru out the warrenty act, and said a few words that I don't think the guy really knew, and everything was fine after that. I never got mad, and never yelled, I was very calm, and they had never heard of the act. Its good to print out, and keep in your car.

Even headers and aftermarket cats won't void your warranty! Yup even aftermarket cats, as long as they can work on their own without simulators.

It's hardly new information. The key is that you have to be willing to push it all the way. Are you willing to sue a dealership whey they won't work on your vehicle or if they "void" the warranty (as you have read, it isn't something that can be voided as a whole)? The law is only a strong as your resolve to see it through.

This is the flip side of what happens when somebody breaks something (like spraying a 250 shot) and then tries to put it all back to stock and claim warranty repair.
