Default Royal Purple

Hey guys I just switched to RP today. I was just wondering if at 3000 miles do you guys just change the filter or do you do a full change? I figure if @ 3000 I switch the filter and replace a quart of oil it should be good. Anyone else try this?

if your using synthetic then why not just do it at 5k and use a good filter, i think thats what the majority does here.

I usually run my oil about 5000 before I change it. The next change I am thinking about trying the RP, the store near me just started carrying it and I want to see if there is any difference between the Mobil 1 I currently run and RP.

I'm gonna do the switch to RP in about 1500 miles and I was gonna try the filter switch at 3k, maybe I'll just run it to 5k w/ RP and then change them both.

Get a good oil filter that is made for extended service periods like the Mobil1 and you can just change it when you do your oil. I run RP and a Mobil1 filter and I change at 5K.

I usually run mine to about 6000 before I change the oil. I use a mobil 1 or K&N filter. I don't have any issues and the old oil coming out doesn't look to bad. I'm running royal purple in the motor and the rear diff. I also changed my girls stang to all RP.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record: I used Mobil 1 for years and years, usually with a Mobil 1 or Wix filter. I changed it at 3000 miles religiously.
After switching to RP almost 2 years ago in both my Grand Cherokee Overland and Ram, I tried going to 6000 mile intervals to offset the cost. My filter choices so far have been Wix and Purolator Pure1. At the 6k oil change, the RP looked cleaner and more like when I put it in, than the Mobil 1 ever did at 3k!
I've never sent my used oil out to be tested, but the naked eye tells me the RP is protecting better at 6k than the Mobil 1 did at 3k. Obviously these filters were also still doing their job, and quite well.
I'd say you would be perfectly fine waiting the 6k and changing both the oil and filter together...
