How to get fuel pump assy out
I need to replace the fuel pump in my 02 Ram. I got the bed off and the electrical connection/fuel line but can't get the large plastic ring to twist off.
Any tips or tricks to it?

I don't have any suggestions, but I ocassionally have a fuel sensor error and figure it is a matter of time before I pull the bed, notch the frame and replace the sensor. So, pls take some pictures and give us(me) some hints on how it goes. Thanks,
Well the bed was pretty easy. 6 carrage bolts. 4 towards the end (2 on each side) and 2 at the front. Took out the taillights and got the harness out and had to undo a ground that was on the driverside behind the wheel. Took 3 people to get the bed off but it makes it so much easier.
Which sensor are you referring to? I'll try to snag up some pictures for you.

First off mark where the ring is at before you loosen it. When you tighten it back up it never feels tight and this will give you an idea where it was from the factory. I use a very large pair of channel lock pliers to loosen it. If you don't have these you can take a large screwdriver and tap it with a hammer at the bottom where the fins on the side meet the bottom lip. Don't just hit it on one fin, move around after a couple of hits to keep from breaking the fins or the ring. Be careful the screwdriver doesn't cut into the ring when hitting it, the more dull it is the better.
If Im not mistaken, take two nuts loose and the tank will drop down. I did mine and just placed a jack under it with a 2x4 and eased it down. Much easier than pulling off he bed. Too late now though.

The plastic fuel pump module locknut (Fig. 17) is threaded onto fuel tank. Install Special Tool 6856 to locknut and remove locknut (Fig. 18). The fuel pump module will spring up slightly when locknut is removed.
