Default 4X2 6in rough country with 35's hitting knuckle

Hey! I'm a mom that needs some help, please!!! I know I'm not posting this in the right place, but I couldnt figure out where to post this. Could you please copy and put this in the right place for me to receive an answer? I really appreciate it. I bought my son a 2002 Ram 1500 4X2. I had it lifted by professionals. I got a 6inch rough country lift, 35 in nitto trail grapplers and I had 20inch XD spys put on it. It looks great! One problem...the turning radius is horrible..like so bad he cant even make a turn into a parking space. When doing a Uturn it takes more than 3 lanes! Something is wrong!!! I took it back to the place and they said "When you lift it thats just what you get". But I know it shouldnt be THAT bad. A lot of my sons friends have lifts and they are no where near as bad as his. He cant even turn around in a culdesac unless its really really wide!!! I took it to 4 wheel drive to just have them look at it, and they said the knuckle is hitting the control arm??? They said the company that did it should do research with rough country and fix it. Can anyone help me out??? I know how to get back on here, if it will give me messages, but if it wont do that my email is lori.gunther@gmail.com. Thanks so much guys! At this point he wont even be able to drive his beautiful truck to school because he cant make it into a parking space!!!

Boy have times changed!!! My mom gave me a birthday card with a bill in it for room & board and a note written on the card saying "time to start showing responsibility" for my 16th birthday. Had to balance school, sports and a job from about that day on.
OK, enough on that rant...

Hard to say without seeing it, especially since a couple of "specialty" shops could not offer up a simple solution to the problem. At least you now know what the problem is though.

The XD wheels have sufficient offset and backspace to clear a 35"x12.5" tire. I don't know why the steering knuckle would be hitting the control arm. I don't have any experience with any other lift type than a level kit on 4x2s as I'm strictly a 4x4 guy. Haven't heard anybody with the Rough Country kit on a 4x2 b*tch about it, so I'm inclined to think it's the install over the kit design. Unless guys just deal with it and don't say anything.

Is it possible you could post up a pic or two of the knuckle contacting the control arm? I've installed a few lifts over the years and something might just jump out at me if I see it...

Now I've driven his a few times, the turning radius is obviously wider than stock, but not bad IMO. He's running 33" tires though. You change so much I have no clue what you run these days. You running 35's?

LMAO, my first car was a '71 Nova that I paid $350 for, lame a$$ car with a no power straight 6 cyl. in it that still only got 12 mpg!
Worked an entire summer welding and installing canopies and awnings to save up for a '73 Nova SS with a 350 in it...

I'm comparing your pics with those in the installation manual.

http://www.roughcountry.com/install/376H.pdf

They conveniently don't have any clear cut ones of the lower control arm after installation (wonder if they did this cause they know it's just that tight?). But it appears things are installed properly. After reading OE's post, may just be that way. I'd still get ahold of Rough Country for an opinoin though...

If Rough Country won't help you and they just say, "that's how they are", then I would have the A-arm that is in contact with the spindle ground down to allow some more angle, granted the otherside doesn't touch on the backside. i know that sounds confusing,..haha, but if you grind down the Pass side front, that means the wheel can turn further left but may be still in contact on the driverside(back part of the spindle) You may need to have the spindle ground down as well, bot front and back on each side. That spindle looks beefy enough to allow atleast 1/4" to be ground. Every 1/4" makes a difference as it ends up being 1/2" all said and done.

Do you think any spacers would help? One of the kids came by and said they had that problem and had to put spacers in??? And thank for the info, I will tell the company that installed it about grinding down the A-arm. Do you think the A-arm should be ground down or the Knuckle? I cant believe how much Ive learned in the last two days! haha I will still call Rough Country in the morning too, and see what they say. Once again, thanks so much for your help!
