Default HIDs BEFORE YOU BUY! *PROBLEMS**SOLUTIONS*

For anyone thinking about doing a HID conversion or for anyone that has problems...Seems to me like there are lots of posts on HIDs maybe this will give some users an easy search or troubleshooting before starting a new post...hope im not breaking any rules here mods...

So under some great deal of frustration after deciding to do an HID conversion my 07 I did find some issues...

Dodge uses a Canbus? system requires the headlight circuit to be using 55W of power. If its not detecting that it sends a pulse out to check if the bulb is out or not. Hence the flicker and the Lamp out light.

If you are thinking about an HID conversion I would VERY STRONGLY recommend going to a 55W ballast. It might cost you a little more, but for the people who just want to install and be done with it, it works. I put a true 55W kit (that means EVERYTHING IS 55W! Ballast, Bulbs and Relay) I have absolutely no flickering. I hope that this works with most dodge years that use the system, but I can confirm that it works on an 07! The only reason why I say to make sure its a true 55W kit is that many people will resort to EBAY for their kits. I purchased a 55W kit but only got 35W bulbs and relay. So IF you are going to purchase from EBAY confirm that everything is 55W, they will try to scam you.

Next off, If you buy a 35W kit, you are going to experience flickering. No ways around it. If you did and are having issues, it seems that 2 resistors will help your problem. Both resistors being 10ohm-50W, they seem to do the trick(you can purchase them from ebay for cheap)
Basically you will put one inline with the high-beam wire and the ground, and the low-beam wire and the ground. Personally I would wire it in on the other side of the factory connector with butt connectors or something easy to take off again. Just so that if you decide to go back to stock bulbs its easy to go back to. Also the fact that most HID harnesses have all the wires wrapped with insulation up to the connectors so its harder to splice.

Now as far as capacitors and such, I have mine installed (sorry I dont know the value of them) So that could be why I don't have a lamp out on my dash. I have not tried pulling them out, because the system works, and I don't want to mess with it now.

The other thing that I have done is disabled the DRLs using my tuner, I don't know if that makes all the difference, but if you cannot disable them you will need the capacitors to make sure that the lights do not run all day
Why? HIDs get really hot and take a little time to cool down properly so you don't want them on and off. ESPECIALLY with dodges as the headlight goes out when the turn signal comes on. It would still work with them on, but you would significantly loose the life of your bulb.

Last but not least, FOG lights DO NOT matter...They do not run of the same system as the headlights. So 35W kits are just fine (I have them installed too and everything is ok) So in other words don't go through this same process to find 55W kits for the fogs, as it will not matter!

Hope this is ok and clears things up...if anyone has anything to add, then PLEASE do...
