No, I did not fall off the face of the Earth. I was drafted by our Volunteer Fire Department to be their photographer, Patriot Guard Riders, Volunteer Ambulance driver all take a large part of my time.

Anyway, I had (operative word) a problem with my new 2500 where it would crank but would not fire. I'd come back a couple of hours later and it would start right up. I had the AMSOIL oil Bypass system installed (a coincidence) prior to leaving for North Carolina, for my nephew's wedding. It was about 60° the following morning, as we were ready to head to NC, and my truck would crank and crank but would not fire. I tried several times and it would not start. Called for a tow to take me to the dealership then called the dealership to let them know it would be coming in. I was told they could look at it in a week and, they do not offer loaners. MY truck had 9025 miles on it. (They just lost a repeat customer but, I digress.) While on the phone arguing, I tried again and it started up. Once it started, it would start every time until it sat over night in cool temps. So, off to NC we went.

We stopped for the night in Virginia and the next morning it would not start. Again I tried several times with no luck so, I waited a couple of hours and Bingo it started. On to NC we went.

When we got to NC for the wedding, it started every time, no issues whatsoever. It liked being down south I guess.

A week later we left for home, I was hoping the problem had corrected itself. We stopped in Harrisonburg, VA for the night and wouldn't you know it, it was a cool 64° the following morning and the truck would not start. (Anger words!) I tried many times to start it and even after 2 hours of waiting, it still would not start. Again I called for a tow and found a Dodge dealership just 4 miles from our hotel. I called Dick Myers Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep to let them know it was coming and was told they could look at it after lunch. Yes, after lunch! Ms. Lambert, Service Advisor, told me she would put her best mechanic on the job so we could get on our was as soon as possible. He pulled a coil pack and did a few other tests - OH! there were no codes either. He put it back together and the truck started. We were given the option to spend the night so they could continue testing or continue on our way. We chose the latter. I've never had better customer service than that of Dick Myers. If you look up Customer Service in the dictionary, you will find Dick Myers Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep. Heck, they even shuttled us to a local restaurant, of our choice, for lunch.

While waiting for my truck, I did several Google and Youtube searches for, "Dodge Ram will crank but will not start." Nearly all pointed to the fuel pump relay which is integrated into the TIPM. (Clue #1)

The next morning, after we got home, it was again in the low 60°s, the truck would not start. Which got me thinking, why would the truck start every time in NC but, it would not start at home. Hmmm...it was 90°-95° (Clue #2) every day in NC so, off to the bathroom to grab my wife's hairdryer. I warmed up the TIPM both top and also through the side opening to the wire harnesses. Guess what? The truck started up. Well, I'll be jiggered.

Next day, same thing it would crank but it would not fire. Grabbed the hairdryer, warmed up the TIPM and, again it started up. It wasn't moisture related because it hadn't rained and the humidity was low. I called a different local dealership and explained to them what I had discovered and could they take a look? They gave me a loaner while the truck we in the shop. They couldn't find anything and I needed my truck for some chores that were not authorized for the loaner, besides I had a workaround. Fast forward a week and the same scenario, won't fire, warm up the TIPM, started.

This time when I took my truck back, they ordered a TIPM. I've had the truck now about a week with a new TIPM and it starts every time.
