Which Tires???? Goodyear or Dunlop???
This is my first post, so yet me first say thanks for your help, suggestions and ideas. I hope that I'll be able to help you in the future.
Ok, need some opinions... I am looking a a new set of tires around the size of 315/70R17. They will be going on a 2009 RAM 1500 4x4 w/ front end leveling kit. I pretty much have my choices narrowed to 2 brands: Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac & Dunlop Rover Maxx Traaction.
Now, both of these tires are pretty much based off the same concept, an aggressive all-terrain. And, Dunlop is owned by Goodyear. I have really great price quotes from Discount Tires which matched the lowest I could find on the internet; the Dunlops being about $150 cheaper "out the door price."
I know that most are probably going to say go with the Goodyears (which I still might), but I am leaning toward the Dunlops however. Here's why... I have spent most of the weekend reading countless reviews on the internet between the two, and the DuraTracs have about a 60/40 to 70/30 split on whether people like or hate them. The Dunlops on the other hand, are about 90/10 +. Pretty hard to find negative reviews at all about them. Now, this might merely be because less people have them. I need your opinion, because I am totally on the fence here.

word of warning with discount tire, when you order your rubber, demand that you sign for delivery, othier wise the dumb dumbs at UPS will leave your tires on your door step with out calling !!!!...

I too have read countless reviews of both the Dura tracs and the Dunlops. Like you, I found there is practically no negative feed back concerning the Rovers.
I would be leary of the Dura tracs due to a number of reviews that said their truck wandered really bad after having them installed. There are even a few people who went back to where they bought them and had the tire shop install something else.
One guy in a Tirerack review said that after he got the air pressure right with the Dura tracs, his truck drove OK. Maybe the others needed to play with the air pressure, I don't know. I do know, you shouldn't have to monkey with the air pressure setting on a premium tire to get your truck to handle correctly though.
I remember back in the late 70's when I was tire buster we had a certain tire we sold that just wouldn't work on some cars because it made them feel squirelly and we had to take them off and install something else. So that does happen.
