Default HELP!! I want a Ram 1500 but.......

Guys, I want to get a 2010 CrewCab SLT 5.7 4WD. It seems that Ford's similarly equipped 2010 5.4 4WD Crew Cab XLT - there comparable model is about 5K cheaper. Both have a MSRP about 39-40,000. Ford is coming off 10K or so and every DODGE dealer I talk to will only come off 5-6000K. Is the 1500 worth 5,000$ more or am i missing something??? FIRE AWAY

Depends on demand in YOUR area. Around here EVERY Furd dealer will tell you they are #1, have been for 33 years & haven't been in BANKRUPTCY and therefor won't budge more than about $4k off sticker.

Ram dealers will regularly discount a $40k truck to under $30k. I know we got a moderator here who just stepped up to a 2010, QCSB 4x4 Hemi, pretty darn loaded and paid like $27k for it. My local dealer will stick a 2010 Laramie (top of the line) Hemi 4x4 QC in the paper every sunday for $29,995.

I've had 2 new Furds, 1 used Furd diesel, 2 new Cheby's and 2 new Rams and IMHO the ONLY thing a comparable Furd has on a Ram is that its a better tow vehicle (despite having a good 100 less HP). All other aspects: looks, longevity, interior, engine, etc. I'd give to the Ram...

I test drove a furd f150 prior to getting my ram 1500 with the hemi, the handling is night and day, the dodge blows the furd out of the water on ride quality, and the power difference between furds 5.4 and the hemi, well, there not even in the same ball park. The f150 is like driving a brick compared to the ram. Dodge all the way!

No, more like the Okefenokee of south Georgia.

But you should have NO problem getting a new Ram discounted about $12-14k off sticker pretty much anywhere. If a Furd dealer is willing to deal but a Dodge dealer ain't in your area it means he's selling A LOT more trucks than the Furd dealer. You may just need to travel a little to find a deal. Here's a guys recent post from another thread where he got the dealer down about $13k from sticker:

Weird. Comparable Fords in my area are around 4-7K MORE than what Dodge wants.

At any rate, throw that MSRP number out of the window. So many dealers are playing with it so hard that if you get wrapped up in it, you will forget which way is up.

I was extremely lucky in that I found a truck locally optioned the way I wanted, AND at a price that was sane to me. I had all but given up for the truck market here and was ready to drive down to Dallas or up to South Dakota after a truck. We'll still probably have to do that as we are also in the market for a 2010 Ram 3500.

here ya go, 1st dealer I popped up off the list in Orlando, Florida, 2010 Ram 1500 Hemi 4wd QC is advertised for $28,999. THIS IS AVERAGE DEAL FOR GEORGIA/FLORIDA AREA and I'm sure about everywhere but where you are as we have members from all over the country paying about this price. ALSO NOTE: this ad says "asking price", I'm sure you could talk them down a grand or two more!

I honestly don't know if I can buy that you have two dealers refusing to take $10k off list, they are getting more dealer money than that from Dodge, they can take $10k+ off before they even start hitting their profit margin...
