does this sound right to you? pricing question.
took my Pontiac G8 Gt in today to a local dealer and they had an insane # on a used 2009 Laramie ($36900, 4x4 37k miles with a backflip), but it sure did look good. well anyway, after i got past that they were trying to sell me on a new 2011. said the "discounts are way better than to buy used anyway!"
so the first truck they show me is waaaaaay out of my range, $45k and some change. i tell her what i am looking for and they show me a truck that meets none of that, but was priced better of course. i want leather, alpine and back up sensors....
anyway, the truck i was showed was a 2011 mineral gray that stickered at $37430. 4x2. well, they discounted it $3750 bringing it to $33680.
is that about right for a sport 4x2? i keep hearing $10-12 k off and i assume that is just for the $45k trucks and above?
either way, that is still not where i want to be, so i am going to ask for another $3500 which i dount will happen, but it isnt the truck i want so i guess i am ok with walking. if they give the $3500 i would settle for it....i just was kind of shocked with $3750 worth of rebates. didnt really seem to move the meter at all.
i guess what i am asking is should those larger rebates just be applied to the $45k trucks and up?

Sounds about right. It would be nice if the rebates grew according to the package and price of the truck. Sometimes they do but not always.
I just bought my 11 1500 Bighorn 4x4. Its sticker was almost 43k. The dealer discouted it and then added in the $3250 rebate and I was at 33500. I asked for a spray in bedliner and a couple other small accesories which they gave me without batting an eye. I'm sure they did ok on it, and I left happy.
