Overall Quality
Anyone know when Dodge will get the quality back in these trucks. I have an earlier one one with 175k on it and have had no issues at all, no rust, mechanical failures, only routine maintenance. I would like a new one so I can take trips reliably but reading this forum I have identified several several quality issues that will have to be resolved before I buy another.
1 - issues associated with rear end recall (biggie) - chinese brgs, mis machined fits in axle and required overfill of rear end (guaranteed failure in the future)
2 - rusting chrome
3 - loose rolling up leather seats
4 - plastic chrome on potential chinese made wheels coming loose - why not use real chrome?
I can't believe Dodge is allowing this to happen. If they get them fixed I will buy a Laramie, I have had good service from the older model I have.
I work in a large industrial facility and there is a noticeable jump to other brands in the parking lot. Talking around with the guys these quality issues are having a big influence at a critical time for Dodge survival in the market.
I will try to wait it out but may have to jump ship if I develop a problem with my high mileage truck. As a long time maintenance manager I am very aware of gear boxes, fits, lubrication principles, coatings, etc. and do know what to expect in quality machinery.
Any re-assuring info that things will get better will be appreciated.
